Established in 2013 by Scott and Sonia, Maclean Bay Wines began as a simple hobby, inspired by a shared love of great wine and the stunning East Coast landscape. What started as a passion project has grown into a thriving grape-growing and winemaking business, built on hard work, dedication and a hands-on family approach.

For Scott and Sonia, the vineyard is very much a family affair. Most weekends you’ll find them among the vines with their two children in tow, tending to the vineyard throughout the seasons. From pruning and training vines to netting, handpicking grapes and making wine, every stage of the process is approached with care and attention to detail.

The vineyard covers approximately two hectares and enjoys a spectacular coastal setting overlooking the untouched waters of Maclean Bay, from which it takes its name. This beautiful location is more than just a backdrop, playing an important role in shaping the character and quality of the wines.

Tasmania’s East Coast is renowned for its cool-climate growing conditions, and Maclean Bay makes the most of its unique environment. Long growing seasons and cool nights allow the grapes to ripen slowly, encouraging gradual flavour development while maintaining the freshness and balance that make Tasmanian wines so distinctive.

Combined with the vineyard’s rich clay-based soils, these conditions provide an ideal environment for producing expressive, high-quality wines that reflect their coastal origins.
